You
may recognize this image from the hit NBC show, Deal or No Deal.
But here at Campus Kids, this popular game show takes on a new
perspective. |
Led
by Jeremy and Amanda, the prizes were somewhat different than those on
the show. Instead of big prizes like one million dollars, bunk
groups had the chance to win pizza parties, Munchkins, movie nights, and
board games. However, the pink cards represented prizes that
aren't so pleasant, such as getting
wet, eating spam, singing at breakfast, cleaning the quad . . . |
|
|
. . . and the one everyone
feared the most, "Ryan's Choice of Very Bad Things". |
As
the groups filed up one by one to meet their fate, they would chose one
card from a numbered board to save to the very end. They
then eliminated all others except one, hoping that they would have the
one they wanted. There was one catch, however. |
|
|
Ryan,
the smooth talking banker, offered each group a tempting deal in
order to quit. Sometimes it would be candy, sometimes beloved
childhood books, sometimes cute stuffed animals. |
But
despite unfavorable outlooks at crucial points in the game, not one
deal was struck. It seemed as if campers were in it more for the
thrill than the prize. |
|
|
The
audience often rooted for the team on the spot to make a deal with the
banker, but nevertheless, cookies, board games, and olives stayed with
the banker himself. |
Some outcomes were
not quite as favorable as might have been expected. |
|
|
Sam M.'s group won a
blade of grass. |
Villani's group won
an autographed picture of a Campus Kids celebrity, office manager Sara. |
|
|
But one group ended
up with a pink card reading the solemn word "Underwear". Their
obligation was to wear underwear on their heads the next day to
breakfast... |
Which they took in
their stride. |
