Drama Games

It's one of the most coveted activities on a hot day that attracts people of all genders and ages.  Many of you might not know it, but the Little Theater at Centenary College is air conditioned.  But that is not the only reason campers enjoy signing up for drama games.  It is a fun activity that lets them express themselves.  At this session, there were three games played.

The first was a mimicking game.  Each person was given a number.  Then, while clapping to a beat, they must say they're own number, and the number of someone else.

If someone messes up, they are out.  And if someone calls a number of someone who is out, they too are out, and are forced out of the circle, and onto comfortable couches (a terrible fate, I know).

Everyone sits in a circle, with one person in the middle.  The person in the middle names a characteristic they like in friends.

Anyone with that characteristic, be it physical or a facet of someone's character, must get up and switch places with someone else.  The last person to do so stands in the middle, and the game repeats itself.

The last game, and perhaps the best one for self-expression, is called "Late to Work".  An employee, who is late to work, must figure out what excuse he or she should use: the excuses are being acted out by the people behind the boss.

Some clues are easier to figure out than others.
And if the boss turns around, the people must pose in the position they are in, and explain why they are in that position.  If the boss is unsatisfied with their answer, they are fired and replaced with an audience member.

Many of the games played were actually played at the Staff orientation as Ice Breaker Games.  While on the surface they are fun games to play in an air conditioned theater on a hot day, they help to bond campers, both within a group and as a whole.  And this was just the activity needed on the first day of a new camp session.
