A good journalist knows that a cardinal rule of reporting is to keep personal feelings and opinions as far away from an article as humanly possible.  And even though this story chronicles myself, I will be doing that.

It was quite early when I woke up this morning, much earlier than the clock reads, because I needed to be conscious for a while before I could take a picture.  The band practices for CampStock were early because to find another block of time during the day before the show would be next to impossible.

It was two and a half hours later that, as we were leaving the Little Theater, a friend told me there were "...some picture of me on the door of Van Winkle saying 'Hug Me'".  He wasn't quite correct, but not wrong either.

What I should probably say before going on is that a chant, whose lyrics I will not post, was made up about me.  It is not mean spirited, if you know the people who say it and my relationship with them, but an onlooker might find it odd.  The same person who began this chant had hung up the following sign all throughout the campus.

I will leave it up to you, the reader, to determine which of the facts are true.

At breakfast, campers and counselors saw these signs, and, like lemmings, followed the instructions.  Getting through the cafeterias was not easy with a sea of campers and counselors giving bear hugs at every inch.

Things continued like that for the rest of the morning.  It is nice to know that one is loved, even when you have to struggle for air amongst all the love.  Then came announcements.

Ryan Belline, along with Mitch and Ben, in a shirt that read "I ♥ Lurrie" took the microphone.
And after calling me up, sang the following song to the tune of 'Eye of the Tiger'.

Risin' up, with the young kids
Got a camera, got the long hair
Don't forget about the pictures he took
We must fight, to make sure, he's recognized.

It's the day of the Lurrie
He's the guy that we like
Updating websites and making us smile (bright-ly)
And if someone ever asks us who's that dude running by
We will always have to reply...Hey, that's Matt Lurrie

I was beside myself.  There were no words to express the overwhelming sense of family I felt today.  As the song was being sung, I was on the verge of pulling a Teri.  I want to thank everyone at Campus Kids for their love today and throughout the summer.  This truly touched me.
