Ultimate Frisbee,
Ga-Ga, basketball, fencing, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, swim, dodge ball,
spud, hackey sack, pilates, Newcomb, volleyball -- the list of active sports is
endless. Sometimes campers simply need a break. Running around
in the hot sun is fun, but overwhelmingly tiring. This is why there
exists an activity entitled "Shade" (both afternoon and evening). |
|
It is a restful
time. Many lie down to take a break from the hectic day. |
Others, well,
don't seem to have an off button. Even with the ability to rest in the
cool shade, they decide that they would rather run than sit. |
|
|
As always,
Ffrisbee is a popular sport. |
Organized games
cease to exist in the quad, but a friendly and competitive game of catch
takes place daily. |
|
|
Another sport
gaining popularity at Campus Kids is football, and the pigskin can be seen
whizzing through the air frequently. |
Impromptu games
of baseball also seem to spring up on occasion. |
|
|
Many find shade
under an umbrella with a good book. |
Others make it a
time to play guitar, people singing along the whole time. |
|
|
Jookie
tournaments are also a favorite of the less active. |
And, of course,
the age old game of who can keep their hand on the sundial the longest.
|
|
|
More than
anything, though, shade provides a time to hang out and relax. It is
structured unstructured time. And as you can plainly see, the Goonies,
do in fact, like to chill with the ladies. |
As does their head counselor. |
