As far as
advertising strategies go, this is not a good one. It has neither the
name nor the logo of the complex in it. But despite an inside-the-box
approach to signage, the roller rink of Skate 57 made for a wonderful day
trip. |
(Once again, I am confused) |
|
|
Upon entering,
campers, counselors, and web photo people donned their roller skates or
blades. |
|
|
And from there, there was little
to do but take on the hard wood rink, one push at a time. |

The staff of the
roller rink organized two games (well, three if you count the game that I
like to call "How many four-year-old Blink 182 songs can we possibly play").
First was a game called four corners. Campers would skate around while
the music played, and when it stopped, make their way to one of the four
corners. Then, dice would be rolled, and the number that came up would
correspond to a corner--that corner was eliminated. |
|
Corners began being eliminated... |
...and campers began to vanish
from the game. |
|
|
Eventually, after
many intense rounds, the winner was Lindsey J. |
|
|
They also
organized rink-wide dances, including those to the electric slide and apache
(two CK favorites). |
|
|
Some of the
maneuvers (i.e. "Three hops this time") proved too difficult for some. |
|
|
There were those
who felt more comfortable in shoes that could keep them still at the top of
a steep hill, and for them there were many options. |

And as per the
usual, upon returning to camp, campers who went on the day trip thanked Ryan
at announcements. |
