When campers woke
up this morning, they had about a half of a second before they realized the
situation: this was their last day. For some, it didn't hit them right
then and there. Others, it hit them like a train. |
|
Tom ended
announcements with the ceremonious "Bye Camp!" *Clap*. For some, that
clap was when the fact that camp was almost over hit them. |
Campers wearily
dragged their luggage to the buses... |
|
|
...which were
there waiting. |
|
|
Now, the scene in
front of the buses was not one I felt I should photograph. Campers
were crying. Counselors were crying. Web Photo Journalists were
crying. The notion of leaving the people with whom they
had gotten so close to in the last two months was overwhelming.
Graduating campers wept in each other's arms. A lump was felt in the
throat of all who were there. The scene was not a happy one, but then
again, saying goodbye to those you love is never a happy occasion. |

|
And as campers
got their last glimpses of Centenary College, they saw the entire staff on
the road waving goodbye. And soon, all that was left was a vague
Vanderhoof logo on the back of a far away bus. |
