Tom's Day Trip

It was, in most respects, a normal day at camp.  The bell tower rang every hour (two minutes fast, of course), counselors shouted their activities to the dismay of campers standing directly next to them, and equipment was being handed out by hard-working staff assistants.  But when it came time for announcements, there seemed to be something missing.  Besides the fact that all seniors were at Lake Hopatcong hoping that the sky would not open up on them, it seemed as if a presence was missing.

The announcements song was sung, but when it came time to shout out the name of our camp director, people were confused to see Jeremy, the assistant director, reach for the microphone.

Tom was nowhere to be found.  After Announcements, Jeremy told the camp that Tom had gone paintballing.  This the campers could not believe.  Tom, shooting people with capsules of paint?  Preposterous!  Everyone figured he was hard at work in his office.

Such wishful thinking was shot down with one trip down the Van Winkle hallway.

Could it be true?  Had Tom really taken off a day of camp to play paintball?
We'll let you determine the answer.
