This is a red
wagon. Many of you probably had one growing up as a child. It
was a nice first vehicle-it required no high priced gas, no ensuing road
rage, and no complicated test to earn the right to drive it. |
|
The game is
called Trick My Wagon. Each bunk group was given a red wagon the night
before. They had 24 hours to "trick" it out. They could do
whatever they wanted-paint it, put things in it, on it, under it, and, if
they could manage it, through it. But there were some specific
categories by which the wagons were judged. Besides creativity and
overall design, up to five points could be earned if each of the following
items were placed on:: License/Registration/Insurance, cup holder, glove
compartment, flag, license plate, rearview mirror, spare tire, or seat
cushion. |
|
Groups began to
file into the gym with their completed wagons and took a seat in front of
the stage. |
Andy and Melissa
explained what would happen: each group would bring their wagon up to the
stage. One person from the group would explain the meaning behind the
wagon, and show all the things that could receive bonus point, and the
judges would judge the wagon based on each ones concordance with the
guidelines. |

With some help,
each group brought up their wagons. |
And one representative spoke
about the wagon. |

Many groups met
many of the requirements. |

The Sassy Tinks
made a mobile lemonade stand, with many commodities behind the storefront.
|
|
|
They even
poured lemonade for the judges. |
And two
representatives stood in the back with a sign that read "When Life Gives You
Lemons, Make a Wagon". |

It was a stand
to rival Lucy's Psychiatric Advice. |
Before the
verdict was announced, Andy had all the campers close their eyes... |

...and imagine
the trophy, made by Staff Assistants, that they would receive (and promptly
give back so Campus Kids can store it over the winter). Once the
judges were finished counting up the scores, the winner was announced. |
Not surprisingly,
The Sassy Tinks' sour beverages won them a sweet victory. |
