Campus Kids is full of talent.  There are those who have perfected their learned talents, those who are naturally talented, and those whose bodies can contort in such a way that the Guinness Book of World Records, now with less records and more physical oddities, would adore.  Every other week, these talents are showcased in the Talent Show.  This week the excitement was at its usual high level.

The hosts for this show brought with them a great deal of blonde hair: Teri, Rodney, Erica, and Jenna.  After a Price-Is-Right entrance, the show began.

Bryce D. came on stage, expecting to be the only one there.  "Is this a joke?!" he shouted.  After a paranoia-based monologue, he ran off stage.

Next up was Gil I. and Sky G with 'Street Beat No. 5'

In a parody of the TLC hit show "What Not to Wear", Julia B., Val R., Georgi I., Darcy N. and Caroline W. pretended (we can only hope) to be women with horrible fashion sense.  The hosts could do little to improve their judgment, as one girl bought a shirt from a homeless man for the pricy sum of eight thousand dollars.

The next skit was possibly one of the funniest ever witnessed in a Campus Kids Talent Show.  Although lip syncs are not allowed at Talent Shows, an exception was made.  Before the skit began, to continue an old tradition performed many years ago by a camper, James, Jack, and Dan got up to the front of the stage and simply said the phrase "We like men."  In the skit, David is the captain of a ship, whose crew consists entirely of men.

Once the speaking parts were through, the song simply entitled 'Men' began.  For the sake of the reader, here are some of the lyrics.

Rob as "Sally"

It's great to be on a ship with men
and sail across the sea, oh,
We don't know where we'll land or when,
but it's great to be with men.

...

There's men above and men below
and men down in the galley,
There's Butch and Spike and Buzz and Biff
and one guy we call Sally!

....

We're men and friends until the end
and none of us are sissies,
At night we sleep in separate beds
and blow each other kissies!

The finale, the entire cast getting down on a knee, and yelling 'Amen' (pronounced Ahhhhh, men!).

Next up was Lauren T. and Carli S. singing "Start of Something New".

And the crowd went wild.
If you have been reading my work for the past three weeks, you will have realized that Campus Kids is teeming with traditions, one of which is a skit entitled "Binoculars".  In it, Donald and Sam are perched in a high place (we can only guess, from past skits, that they were in the bell tower) and spy on counselors doing absurd things that seem to match their character quite well.

Next up was Jeremy B. and Ben B. with a drum skit.  Jeremy, a terrible drummer with an ego the size of the golden dome, is being taught how to play the drums by Ben.  But after many attempts, Ben storms off.  It is at this point that the special guest, the Web Photo Journalist of Campus Kids, comes onto the stage to greet Jeremy.  When Jeremy waved back, the drumstick flies out of his hand, striking the special guest on the back as he tried desperately to exit the stage before such a calamity can occur.

To continue with the musical portion of the show, Austin S. sang 'Sunrise Sunset' from Fiddler on the Roof.

Next up was Jess H., Julia S., Taylor H., and Jenn B. with a dance to the song "Bad Boy".

Next up was the Sleeping Beauties with their own version of the Green Day song 'Good Riddance'.

Throughout the entire show, the hosts introduced the acts with mini skits.  While it would be to tedious to report on each one of twenty skits, these are some pictures from them.

Up next was a Carnival act in three parts.  First was Ava B-E. and her gymnastics act, assisted by Jay.

Nothing about this picture is all that impressive, but without the audio, it cannot do justice.  Jordan G. said the alphabet backwards faster than most people could say it normally.

Lastly, Tina B. walked on her hands.

Next up was a counselor parody skit by Mitch F., Kyle P., Jaime D., Russ I., and Gil I.  The premise was a fight between the head counselors over which division was the best.

Before the fight, which consisted of beating each other with foam noodles, each counselor prepared themselves.  Jack slowly and carefully took off his sunglasses, and with them in his hand said "I love you," much to the excitement of the crowd.  Had there been room, the aisles would have been filled with rolling campers.  The laughter continued as Jaime, playing Teri, took the tissues out from under his (her) shirt.

Next up was Matt P., with a piano tribute to our Web Photo Guy, Phil.  He played the theme song to Star Wars, a favorite of our camera man...

...who, while the song was being played, did what he does best.

Later, Mike Harris performed Pink Floyd's 'Wish  You Were Here'.  It would have made the recently deceased Sid Barrett proud.

Emily K. and Justine T. did an interpretive dancer to the song 'War'.

Ethan H. performed an original song entitled 'Open Your Eyes'.  This reporter has learned that there is a possibility that this song was originally written for someone else in camp.

You may remember them from the Week 1 Talent Show: The Cheeseburgers reunited for this show to play 'All the Small Things'.

The last act was a continuation of yet another tradition.  David Michaels, seen earlier in the Man skit, has, for years, parodied songs to fit a counselor.  This year was no different.  As he assembled his band, consisting of himself and Jack singing, Dave, James, and Josh on guitar, and Max on drums, he announced which counselor would have the pleasure of coming up to the stage.  "He has recently climbed the Campus Kids corporate ladder," said David.  "We're going to ask Paul to come on up."  Paul, recently anointed Sports Coordinator, walked up to the stage and sat in the chair designated for him.  The band began: the song was Oasis's 'Wonderwall'.  Instead of the normal lyrics, the words were changed to describe their Canadian Colleague.  "And after all, you're our counselor Paul" was the verse that the crowd began to sing, along with the band.

As the show began to wind down, the master of ceremonies, Stu, began to give directions for dismissal.

Many thanks to Sam M. and Jeremy for the technical support, and everyone who participated.  It was truly an amazing night.
