Centenary College was
silent. Counselors, fresh off a one week orientation were getting what
would be the last hours of sleep that they could expect for quite some time.
As the rain began to fall, counselors rose into action, completing the last
of the preparations needed before campers were to arrive. Then, the
sky opened up. Every indentation of every sidewalk soon became a
lagoon for the accumulation of rainwater. It seemed a dismal
day... |
|
But then the campers
came.
|
And their once
shadowed faces, as seen through the tinted windows of the Vanderhoof
buses (a change from the widely recognized DeCamp camp buses), became
visible.
|
|
|
Soon, the buses were
as empty as the campus was only a few hours earlier. |
That is, with the
help of a few counselors getting all the luggage from under the bus in
the pouring rain. (Photo: Mark) |

People did all they
could to keep themselves and their possessions dry.

Campers were
reunited with counselors whom they had not seen since the last summer. |
|
|
There was one
problem: the Edison bus was missing. |
The huddles masses
waited patiently in the downpour in order to give those campers a proper
welcome. |
|
|
When it finally did
come, and the last piece of the Campus Kids puzzle was put into its
correct place, the summer of 2006 began. |
But the unofficial
start of camp was when, at the beginning of announcements, the
announcements song was led by Donald Cleary. |

...and here's CAMP! |
