The campus of Centenary College was quiet. It was that odd time between
the end of classes for students and the re-emergence of gleeful campers
after a long school year. |
Beds were barren; closets, empty. |
|
|
Last minute cleaning was being wrapped up, and the staff of Campus Kids
New Jersey was prepared for the influx of families coming to settle
campers in. |
Little by little, cars filled with both new and old CK-ers and
they're luggage, filled, of course, with only clothes, because no kid
ever sneaks candy to camp, began to trickle down Plane St.

A sea of yellow shirted counselors greeted the motorcade with
applause, ushering in the 2006 year. |
Campers first heard the theme at the Campus Kids Reunion on December
4th, 2005. Clues had been hidden during the pervious summer, and a
wise camper, Danny S. correctly guessed
it: the theme was Our Favorite Stories. This year, the
division
names were chosen accordingly: The younger girls are the American
Girl's Collection (bottom left); the older girls, Where the Wild Things
Are (bottom right); the younger boys (top right), Who-Ville; and the
older boys, The Goonies (top left). |

Despite unfavorable weather conditions, campers, accompanied by their
families, came out in droves. |
Items brought to camp were mostly conventional ranging from a fan,
sleeping bag, and duffle bag... |
|
|
To the unconventional (That is, in fact, a tire). |
With the assistance of the helpful and friendly staff... |
|
|
And the hardworking Staff Assistants (without whose work, Campus Kids
would not function)... |
This year's settling in day came to a close. |

Alas, some campers were not ready to leave. But they would return
Monday for two, four, six, or eight weeks at Campus Kids. |
