The day was here. After tons and tons of
preparation, today was the day. Very eager staff members made name tags for
the campers to learn their names.
With much fanfare, the first of many Vanderhoof
buses pulled into Centenary College. Tom had been waiting for this moment
for a very long time.
After the sometimes long bus ride from home,
campers flashed smiles as they hopped off the Vanderhoof bus.
The counselors corralled their campers into bunk
groups. Their campers put them to work right away, carrying luggage.
Reunited...and it feels so good.
These lines from Toy Story are very fitting for
CK
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
You just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
Yeah, you've got a friend in me
As the clock on the golden dome came to ten, all
the campers headed to their dorms. Then the normal first day routines began.
Campers proved their skills in the pool during
swim testing. Afterwards, everyone had to be health tested by our lovely
nurses.
This year's staff assistants had
a different take on the Shemsa song.
Staff assistants helped hand out this year's
camper t-shirts. All the staff were so happy to see campers faces.
Announcements is when everyone knows that camp
really is here. Tom started off CKNJ '08 with some introductions...
The head counselors were introduced to rousing
applause. Kali, the older girls head counselor, gave some smart health tips.
Nikki the younger girls head counselor started
camp off with the first thumbs up for safety award!
Dave Heath is the head counselor of the older
boys. Dave always has a smile on his face.
Last but not least, Andy, the younger boys head
counselor. He and The Big Red Dogs live in the newly named Clifford Hall.
After lunch activities started up and the normal
CK routine began!
