Excitement filled the air as the
Juniors gathered in the bowl to head off to a fun filled activity period
of Gaga! |
After a long winter sitting in a
storage shed, the gaga pit was ready to be put into use. |
Counselor Rhyan explained the
rules. |
If someone hits the ball and it
hits your knee or below, you are out. |
However, if the ball hits above
your knee, you stay in. |
It was also explained that you
cannot touch the ball two times in a row, unless it hits one of the
walls. |
And if you hit the ball, and it
lands out of bounds, you're out! |
To start the game, someone
tosses the ball into the air, and after three bounces (expressioned by
the chanting of "GA GA GA"), the players can start hitting the ball. |
There were many great hits... |
And many great dodges! |

Here at Campus Kids- New Jersey, gaga is
played with several variations. For instance, if you are out, but you
catch a ball that is flying out of bounds, you are back in! |
When there are a few players
remaining, the game can be sped up by "ghost hands", the act of hitting
the ball by a player who is out. |
Another variation, called "farm
animals", lets players who are out run through the pit once every minute
in order to distract players who are still in. |
After a hard fought game, a
winner was crowned! |
And another exciting game was
yet to be played! |
