The Big CK-NJ Reunion Blizzard!

When we realized that we had to postpone our camp reunion for the first time in our history, we had to make a lot of phone calls and send a lot of e-mails to our CK families and staff.  But we were able to take a few breaks and go outside to enjoy the beginning of the big storm.

We had to scramble to quickly find an alternate date for our reunion.  The new date was first publicized in the CK office parking lot.

Feeling more comfortable in the IM world, Ryan was surprised when we handed him a list of 50 CK families to call on the phone.  He did a great job, then came outside to see if anyone in the neighborhood was up for an Ultimate match.

The CK families on Jay's calling list were surprised to hear a hearty "howdy" when they answered the phone, but they somehow got accurate reunion information, despite the Texas accent.  Here's Jay taking a break and shouting, "I came to New Jersey for this?"

Jeremy wanted to leave right away for the snowboarding hills, but we convinced him to stay and call CK families about the reunion.  His consolation was to take a "snow angel" break in the parking lot.

So the big question was, "Can a genuine Texan build a snow person?"  Ryan and Jeremy put Jay to the test and he did pretty well.  He also quickly learned how to make and throw a snowball or two.

In fact, the snow person was so terrific that Tom immediately offered him a staff contract for 2004.  Here Tom welcomes our newest staff member.  We think he may require air conditioning in his dorm room, though.

Remember, everybody, the reunion wasn't cancelled, just postponed.  We'll see you at 11AM on Sunday, January 4 -- a great way to spend the last day of your holiday school break.

And what happened to our other long distance reunion traveler?  Amazingly, Dom flew right into Newark airport on Friday night with few problems.  After making a trip across the ocean to be at the reunion, he probably wonders how we could cancel it.  Sorry, Dom!  But we hope you enjoyed the beautiful snow.  Many thanks to the Schroeder family for fetching Dom from the airport and hosting him in their home.
