Our Philosophy

Campus Kids is a community of people who are diverse in our backgrounds, interests and abilities, but who share a common set of values about children and how we should live together in this camp community.

We believe that every person is unique and should be loved and affirmed as she/he is.

We believe that a basic community structure is important and gives children a feeling of security, but that each child must be given the freedom to make choices and must be nurtured in her/his individual path of growth.

We believe that people should be treated with kindness and respect.

We believe that competition is valuable when everyone can achieve success, but that it can be harmful when it is too intense and emphasizes "winners" over "losers".

We believe that camp should be fun and that "playing" is the "work" of kids as they learn about the world and their place in it.

We believe that the positive role models provided by camp counselors can be one of the most important influences in a child’s life.

We believe that everything we do in camp makes a difference in the lives of our campers.

We believe in camp and we feel lucky to be a part of this remarkable experience.
